The Pain of Separation

Based on Psalm 42

A desperate desire for Jesus is the result of our inability to directly communicate with him, we are tormented by doubts and fears and enemies among God's people. But Jesus shows us how to be faithful despite the hardest temptations.

The troubled soul needs Jesus. Even worshipping God with his people is not enough to satisfy the deepest pain of our lives.
Specifically it is the pain of the scorn of those who tempt us to doubt God which so deep it is like having a knife jammed between one's ribs. Such deep pain must originate in a deeper love.

The true follower of Jesus will find comfort in him and feel deeply what his name is dishonoured. Such love for Jesus is accompanied by a determination to depend on Jesus and his word and to love but not depend on his people.

I will depend on the promises of Jesus to be fulfilled and meditate on them as I do his work.
